Folks,

In need of one bumper plate for a 38 Cadillac, with the Cad lettering.

Not the 1939 plate.

I looked for one of these for years also.  I hoped to find one and use it to make a mold and make a fiberglass one, paint it silver and clear coat it.  (not as good as chrome, but I thought it would be ok for a driver).  I finally gave up-  people (general public) have to guess what it is or look at the badge on the grill.

If you find them somewhere, I need two. Mine were in such bad condition I hammered them flat and painted them. They are good enough, for now.

I think mine could be used to make a mold and cast them in brass.

I've got a pair that I've had packed for years. I'll take them out tomorrow and you guys can see what year they are. The guy never paid me for them. They aren't in too good a shape, but they may work to re-cast some new ones.

I would be a buyer for a pair of good driver plates.  I would have to look at the ones I have to see if they would be good for creating a mold.

Guys, I am sorry, but I looked for the box these were in and couldn't find it where I left it. I may have chucked the box as they were really pretty bad. Good luck. Barry.

Guys,

you do know the only difference between the 1938 and 1939 is the width of the lettering. The 38 were superseded by the 1939 so most 1938 have the later 1939 plates.

1939 plates are being reproduced.

Someone is making the plates for 1939? I haven't been able to find any.
