62 390 Has been removed !

Finally was able to get the engine separated from the trans and OUT of the car.

I have two bottle jacks and a regular jack hold the transmission UP now. Have not quite figured out a more permanent prop while the engine is at the builder.

Some very strange, circular ... abrasion cut right into the torque converter.

Going to put some tie-down straps on the pallet and hopefully take it to the builder this week.

I think the infamous 'spacer' that I've been warned about is still there?

That machining would have to be a balance point with the metal removed to complete the balancing of the unit.

Make sure you remove the disc in the end of the crankshaft, or it WILL fall out, somewhere.

Probably try to use a magnet to attempt to remove it.

That is the messiest gasket around a Fluid Coupling that I have ever seen.

On the third picture, the spacer is clearly visible with that small hole in the middle. As Bruce wrote, take it out, otherwise it will be lost!

I wonder if the hole was put there so as well as making it easier to remove the spacer, one could put a piece of string, or wire through it to hang it so it out of the way, so it wouldn't get lost?

When I took the transmission off my motor years ago, I wasn't aware of the piece, but when I did become aware of it, after seeing it mentioned on the Forum, I went back to the spot of separation, and there it was, still laying there in the gravel and grass.

When I install a trans,I always like to put some anti-seize on the engine to trans guide pins and on the converter/coupling hub to keep them from rusting or corroiding in place.
