Title: 1957 Valve cover Gaskets .. Why did Cadillac switch after engine # 7150
Post by: Bill Balkie 24172 on April 01, 2012, 01:59:57 PM
Hello ,
i have both gaskets for a 1957 before and after  engine number 7150. Did Cadillac change the valve cover  in mid stream  or was the head changed .  Or mayber both ? ... will a 1956 head work with the newer 1957 valve cover ?

   Thanks ,
   Bill

My 1973 Master Parts book shows all 1957 heads as the same. There is no break at a given number. The valve cover gaskets do break at #7150. It appears that they changed the valve cover only.

1956 and 1958 heads are different from 1957. There are early and late 1956 heads but the later one is a different part number from 1957.

You don't need to anymore. The modified site has several of them up.
