Looks like the heater valve on my 47 is leaking.  Who is the best source (price and reputation) for such things?  Tony Zappone

Otto thanks for the info.  I took it out yesterday.  What a bear.  I had to remove the whole defroster assembly.  Its okay, I'll paint everything while its out.   Tony

Here is the summary of the bad heater valve.  There are no new ones to buy.  In the 47 Cad the valve is a Ranco HF-2.  I was given a good lead for a rebuild source, but I had been reading Old Air Products ads in Hemmings for 30 years.  I called, spoke to Lee, he told me the rebuild price was $76.50, plus freight return.  I priority mailed it to them, the valve came back to me last Friday.  It was completely repainted, the copper tubing shining, and very nice.  Installed it yesterday, works beautifully.  I had to take the radio out also, because the cable broke on the "heat" lever.  This job is tough.  If I had to do it again, I would bypass it to the underseat heaters, put a shutoff valve to the heater hose under the hood for summer, and forget about it.  Forget about finding a new one.  The rubber that dries out in these things would probably be as bad as the failed one.  (Should this be moved now to technical, to help somebody else?  I don't know how to do that)
