1960 Muffler

  So I had a new exhaust system put on my car and the mufflers are awfully low and,
 they scrap when I go over any speed bump. I need to no the dimensions of the stock muffler as I think the mufflers he put on are too high in the height. if you have any kicking around please let me know height, length and width.

Here is the duel exhaust set up for 1960.



The single exhaust on 61 looks to be the same components just one side. I know many of the hangers are common.


The 61 muffler is 19 inch long. 8-9 inch wide. And 4.5 tall. Notice it does not hang more then 3 inches below the frame. Waldrons mufflers are made by someone in Canada.

Great pics thanks. So heres what I see when Im standing back from my car, and I just dont like it. I never saw my mufflers hanging that low before, maybe I need  thinner one

Just did mine yesterday and got them from Waldron's, the box said made in Canada. Info above by Carl looks correct.

Wish I had known I would have measured mine for you but on the car as of yesterday.

I got a slight rub somewhere when I put the car into gear at first movement, then it goes away. I thought I found it but still there. I jammed a piece of heater hose on pipe after muffler and going into the frame on passenger side that looked like the culprit but did not get rid of it.

So just measured my muffler thickness is 4 1/2 in, fairly thin. So why is it hangging down so far. And 19in long muffler only, not the inlet outlet pipes

The 1960 has a hanger on the front and back of the muffler.  This is different than the 61 with a hanger only on the back.  Maybe that is the correct position . If we can verify the hangers are the right size and in the right place.

These are the mufflers I used in my '60 CDV.

They are not Standard, but as I did my complete system in Stainless, I went with the ones that would fit.

Even though it was as high as I could get it, it did scrape, as visible by the scrape marks under the muffler.   Not a real problem with the factory cars, as they sat higher due to the Cross-ply tyres.   I ran Radials.

Speed humps were the worst offenders, or as they are properly called, traffic calming devices.   With such a long wheelbase, the front was over the humps before the rear started to rise up the first part of the ramp.
