stuck rear transmission bearing 1937 Cadillac

I have a1937 tranny that we are trying to remove the rear housing, flor new beatings and seals.   Got the front worked out o.k.  got the rear housing lose, but the bearing, will not see if the shaft so we are stuck.  What are we missing?

Don't quite understand what you're saying Chad?  " Got the front worked out"?   What does that mean, please?
A typo in this sentence perhaps? 
Have you got the speedo drive out?   Have you tried pulling the rear casing back as much as you can and tapping the shaft with a wooden mallet?

Steve, I wrote that post with my phone. So the true meaning is often obscured by the predictive text technology.  We are trying to replace seals and bearings in the transmission.  The front bearing and seal are good.  We were able to get cork replacements from an Ohio transmission shop.  The bearing is in good shape.  The problem is in the rear housing (the long tapered housing leading from the transmission body down to the rear yoke.  The housing unbolts from the main transmission box, but we can't get it off.  The rear beating seems to be stuck on the shaft or something like that. We would leave well enough alone, but it leaks a fair amount of gear oil or the back.  We are seeking help on how to get that housing off so we can replace the rear seal and bearing

Can't think of anything else to try other than what I have already suggested Chad. Tap the shaft while pulling on the casing?
You have the yoke removed already I'm guessing?
