I have a Kaiser Darrin that has been modified with a Cadillac 331 engine.  The trans is missing.  Anyone out there with a clue as to what Dutch put in?  I have some hazy recolection of some mention of a LaSalle.

I cant answer your question directly of course. but I have to snicker when I hear "LaSalle" transmission. For years, the hotrod magazines trilled the tune that LaSalle transmissions were more desirable than Cadillacs were. That tale had been started by some teen ager, writing copy for the magazines.

To this day, we hear this misinformation told. The fact is that for a given year starting 1937 or 1938, all Cadillac and LaSalle transmissions were identical. When the transmission was finally bolted to the engine at assembly, it became either a Cadillac or a LaSalle, depending on which engine it was on.

I winder if your Darrin might have even had an automatic on it.........?
