Title: 37 LaSalle/Cad tail light repairs
Post by: Chic Gray CLC #22336 on July 05, 2008, 08:48:29 PM
Can anyone advise me on how to remove the little round red reflector located below the tail light lens?  I want to remove one from a broken tail light casting and insert it into the good casting that will  go on the car.  Appreciate any info or advice.  Thanks.

C.W.,Take a pair of long-nose and compressing the spring and while holding the "cats- eye"(red refector) (tail-lite housing has to be off of car), turn spring retainer ring CCW, like changing a tail lite bulb. May be a lot of dirt obscaring spring.  BTW C.W. I'am back at home in WA.and I was looking around the garage and I have a front and rear bumper brace. HTH Good lock,JIM

Thanks Jim for the information regarding removing the little round tail light cats eye reflector.  I followed your advice with the needle nose plyers and after a little WD 40 and some wiggling I managed the operation successfully.  Tail lights all sanded now ready for primer.  Have a great day.  Chic :) :)
