I hope I don't aggravate any "purists" out there, but I just wanted to let you know that you don't have to get a "V" to go fast. My '73 just turned a 13.1 second 103 MPH quarter mile at 4950 pounds. A few mods. to the 500 inch motor, but it is extremely street-able ( drove the 25 miles to the track without a hiccup) and the AC works.
Going to put it on a diet and got an MTS roller cam in the works.

It's on a lower level of what you would call "fast", and no ¼ mile dragging is involved, but my totally stock '49 will accelerate powerfully and cruise all day at 70+ mph. If an old Cad's motor is in good shape internally and the ignition and carb are in tune, they'll go plenty fast.
13:1 is damn respectable for a car of this size!!
I would never ever drive an unpowered car, that is one reason why I have a 1970 Cadillac. My Cadillac can't match that quarter mile performance, and I am happy for Greg. That power did not happen by accident, it is a lot of work.
Congratulations. Getting under 16 seconds in a big car is worth mentioning, but 13.1 is remarkable.
Bruce. >:D

That is VERY impressive. I'm happy to do 15s and 91mph 1/4 mile with my stock
403, about the same cubes to weight as yours. Bruce Roe
Bruce,
Running stock with a 100K mile 472 I ran 16.2 at just about 89 MPH.
