Hello Everyone

This is my first technical post in a while and have read the manuals, fisherbody etc...   I cannot find anything on how to install the hood ornament on my car. Does anybody have a link or video link on how to do it.

Any help would be much appriciated

Thanks

There are usually 2 studs at the hood ornament; you insert them into the holes from the hood and attach the ornament with the specific nuts...Nothing special, just basic installation.
Or am I missing something?

Are you referring to the spring attachment that fits through the hole in the bottom of the ornament, and allows the ornament to fall over when hit, and then stand itself back upright?

You have to remove the fastener on the end of the trim piece going down the length of the hood that the hood ornament base connects to.  Slide the rear end of the ornament base into the front end of the trim piece while you position the ornament base into the hood hole.  Press down on the ornament to keep in it position while starting the fasteners into the ornament base.  Snug the fasteners in position and attach the fastener back on the end of the trim piece.  Once you are satisfied that everything is aligned properly, tighten all 3 fasteners.

If the ornament is missing the spring that connects the Cadillac wreath to the base, I don't know where you would get that.

I don't have a link but just took mine off ('75 Eldo) for painting..

I used to have a 76 also so I believe it's the same.

Do you have the spring mechanism for it that goes under the hood? if so you can attach some wire around the hook and thread it up through the hole in the hood & trim
so then you can pull the sprung hook up to attach to the ornament.

the '71-'78 Eldorado uses the same hood trim and hood ornament

I figured out how to do it, and it is now done.
