I think the subject name answers some questions on the recent post: "overused topics".

The unintended long thread I started months ago generated some hostility and some changes.

Things have changed rapidly with the internet in recent years and has probably impacted the message board, much to the dislike of some.

For example, here is a related discussion forum you might care to take a look at it, generated by a need for a more specific car topic.
