I have a friend who is restoring his 1956 Cadillac and we are stumped by this master cylinder. Can anyone tell me what this pin sticking out of it is for? I have drawn an arrow to it. It is leaking oil out. Thanks

It is a vent port, the opening goes up to the vacuum seal on the M/C plug. If the seal fails vacuum will escape via this opening.

If you have brake fluid dripping from there it could be a problem with the hydraulic secondary seal inside the M/C. The M/C would need to be rebuilt.

Hope this helps..!
