I dismantled the distributor on my 1929 341B to clean it and check things.

Unfortunately as I slid things apart the pot metal cross piece on the centrifugal advance fell into two pieces. Darn fragile 1920s pop metal!!

I guess I could TRY an epoxy glue to put it back together but since it is a spinning part and it snapped at the threaded areas I dont think I would trust that sort of repair very much. (I hope to someday make it into a reliable tour car)

Has somebody recast this part?
Or is there an expert out there somewhere on these distributors who can build it and make it right?

Jim , and anyone who has this era Cadillac ( or Duesenberg , Stutz , Olds 8 for that matter ) , Delco Remy distributor : Classic & Exotic services in Troy , Michigan ( classicandexotic.com ) does a superb job fixing these. They replace all pot metal , and put in a sealed bearing , etc. Very fast personal service , reasonable price. Everything they do is first class , they also did the carb. on my '27 Cad. Ask for Bruce , he is a CLC member.  - Carl

I am having one made for my 1930 now by Mike Butters. Actually he is casting both upper and lower halves. Highly recommended and will not break the bank with his prices. Casts parts for any car and all work done in house and nothing is farmed out but the chrome plating. The 1930 Cadillac V16 that took best of show at the CCCA Jan. Sweet Sixteen meet used Mikes work. For another reference ask Sunny Elliot or Jeffery the V16 specialists out of Kansas.                           Mike Butters 905-372-6926  nbutters@eagle.ca
