Title: 1956 Fleetwood Special Ordered
Post by: okccadman on January 15, 2010, 12:49:23 PM
It is a new year so I will try to find her a good home once again.

1956 Fleetwood Sixty Special.  This is a factory special ordered car with an SO data plate.  Finished in Mandan Red/Alpine White with a full leather interior in white with red inserts and carpet.  Originally delivered to Newton, KS to one of the world's largest mobile home dealers.  This car has gold grille, A/C, autronic eye, for lights, power trunk, chrome Sabre Wheels and originally the Eldorado 2x4 barrel engine.  Currently has a correct single 4 bbl set up.  Included in the sale is a 2x4 intake and carbs with no fuel lines or linkage.  No breather.  Straight car with minor damage at the right rear lower rocker/skirt area.  A replacement skirt is included.  Front floors need replacing but rears are solid.  Interior is all original and dry leather that needs replaced.  Light rust in trunk floor.  Have too many projects to do this one justice at the present time.  Ran but smoked a little when parked 10 years ago.  Matching number engine and correct original transmission stamped "ce" for Eldo engine set up. This car needs a COMPLETE restoration but would be a stunning and unusual Fleetwood when restored.  I WILL NOT PART IT OUT!  $2500.  Located in Oklahoma City, OK.  Email me at allante93jj@aol.com

Jim,
This is a real shame. A one-off car in great colors & you can't even give it away. If I was a 56 guy, I'd already own it.
I really wish you the best of luck.

The car does have a clean Oklahoma title and keys.  The only missing Items I am aware of are the power window switches and the Cadillac script for the grille.  Other than the carb setup being changed out, this appears to be a good honest car that ha snot been modified or monkeyed with.

How difficult would it be to find the missing 2x4 parts? The linkage/fuel lines and air breather?

(I'm sorry I am more of a Buick collector then Cadillac but this one appeals to me. I don't knowmuch about the 2x4 option)

At your convenience, please forward a photo set to: abc.moran@netzero.net

Thanks
Bryan

The breathers appear on ebay pretty regularly. Complete sets of carbs and intakes also appear on a regular basis. The problem is that no one is going to sell you the linkages without the carbs.

You'd probably have to buy another set of carbs for $500 or more.

I've seen some 56 Fleetwoods recently on ebay and Craigs List -

Are interior fabrics available as reproduction from SMS and others?  Would really like a set of photos to guage overall condition as chrome etc will be expensive to restore and it would require over-correction.

Fabric is available from SMS. Just about everything for the '56 Cadillac is pretty easy to obtain. Re-chroming costs will be the same for all vehicles. Email Jim for the complete rundown on the car and more pictures. If you're looking for a car to restore, this one is as good or better than any.

If you're looking for a car that you can enjoy as-is, then keep searching.

I will get pics out to you asap.  The interior on this car is special ordered in full leather.  With the exception of correct grain and color, no special fabrics would need to be located, except for trunk lining, which is also red.

Jim,

My bad. I had read that in your original post but then got fixated on the ones I have been seeing on ebay and at a dealer.

Otto, I can't buy a driver or restored car, even if I won the lottery (it's a sickness) so no worries there.
