I just purchased this car and will start restoring soon and will post progress.
Ken D
G'day Ken,
Congratulations on your purchase, and I hope you haven't created a budget for the reconstruction.
When I budget for anything, my wife doubles the time, and trebbles the cost, or is that the other way round. ;)
Bruce. >:D
Let's see some pictures!
Here are some pics , will have better ones later
It won't let me post any pictures. Not even one,It says file too big.
Is there something I can do to post a pic or 2?
Unfortunately, it's a learning curve as the photo up load of this site is terrible and I hate it!
David
Check this thread, maybe it will help you post a picture.

You need to resize your pictures so that they're smaller. Here's what I do...
Make a copy of the picture (so you aren't altering your original picture permenently)
Right click on the picture and scroll down to "open with"
select "paint"
in the upper tool bar, select image
click on resize/skew
I normally reduce the size to 25% for both horizontal and vertical
Save the new changes
Post the copy to the forum
Ken - I struggled with this photo resizing issue myself . I see that you have already received some instructions on how to do it , but I'll nonetheless tell you how I post my photos . Go to the "General Discussion " section of the Forum . Scroll down to my July 2nd entry to the "fans under seat " post . I detailed in that post how I was told to put photos on the Forum . As I said in the post , some of the "renaming" is not necessary if you're not concerned about loosing the photos from your file . But if you want to keep the photo in a file for future use , you should make a copy and use THAT copy to post or attach to an email . There are other ways of doing it , I'm sure : but with my software and my camera , this is what works for me . Try it , it you haven't had any success with other methods . Once you get accustomed to the technique , you can adjust the resizing percentage and the renaming to meet your specific needs . Good luck . Paul Tesone CLC #6876 .

I finally figured out how to post pics, so here they are. I am just about ready to start taking it apart
more pics
one more
I contacted the state prison @ Florance, Az and they do powdercoating and upholstry, I am going to have them give me an estimate and probably at least use them for the powdercoating. They will probably be very competive. I'll keep you informed .
I'm in the process of removing the body on my 1940 V16 Formal Sedan
Ken D
Ken,
The work force there could be the person that gives the up-most detail to the one who could care less. Do you really want a V16 done that way? These are high dollar cars, to do one on the cheap, you might as well sell now as all the money spent will be wasted as it will have to be redone by the next owner and this car and market will care/notice.
My 2 cents.
David
Ken, I noticed you had many different posts started in the restoration blog about your v16 sedan. You should try to keep just one post going about your project so you can keep all your progress and information in one place. Otherwise you and the people following the progress of your sedan will have to do much searching to find something.
In regards to work performed at the prison, I just thought they couldn't screw up powdercoating. Those guys have nothing but time and would probably do a great job. I'm not going to do poor quality restoration. Thanks for your concern. I'll take some pics of the restoration, but right now I'm just taking it apart. I have all of the glass, doors, hardware, trim, door panels, fenders, radiator and hood removed and am just about ready to remove the body. I'm running out of room to work, lol.
I've taken pictures of everything I've removed so it can be redone correctly. It's is an original car and has only 55,000 miles on it.
The previous owner had it for 60 years.
Ken and Jim:
I hope that this is what you had in mind.
Ken: In future posts about your V16 restoration, just use the reply function to the last post in this thread and everything should stay together. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. I will be in Columbus at the Grand Nationals for the next couple of days so I may not see your message right away. Good luck!

Looks like a lot of fun! It will be a big project, but at least it is mostly complete.

Try that same method when you go to lift your engine :D
The bracket idea sounds like it would have the least potential to do damage.
Ken I am totally diggin' this especially the engine picture.
I just took the engine out and will finish taking the frame apart and take it to the powdercoaters hopefully within the next 2 weeks
more pics
That looks great. We are right about at the same point in our restorations. It is really interesting to see the differences and similarities in both of our cars over just a one year period in production. Keep it up, I am jealous of that V-16 it looks amazing!
Hopefully Valley industrial will work out for you. I should have my frame back by Tuesday if you want to see how things turned out.

Thanks for the pictures KD. I have basically the same car too, but mines a "driver" since it sat in a junkyard for 50 years and the engine went MIA. If for some crazy reason you decide you want to sell that engine I would love to have it ;)
If you want to exchange numbers or emails PM me. I may have some tips. My project right now, I just got the door trim rechromed and I'm trying everything to attach them to the door. Make sure you save those trim clips, they don't make them anymore.
Thanks Tom

The frame is going to the powdercoaters this week, then I'll start putting it back together. That is where the fun (and $$$$$) are.
were the guys over at Valley Industrial able to help you out? My frame is back and I am incredibly excited about it. It looks fantastic. I put a few pics online, but the suns reflection makes the gloss seem higher then it really is. It is the perfect 60/40 mix. Anyway, hope all is going well with your project. Glad to see your making progress. :)
I just took the body to the sand blasters and then it's going to the painters. By the time it comes back to me , I'll have the frame reassembled (I hope)
Hey Ken,
Where did you end up sending the body to be blasted? As you saw when you were out here I have to send mine off soon. How did things turn out with Cole? Glad to see things are going well with your project. :)
Matt
The body is sand blasted and going to the painter tomorrow.
Still waiting on the frame & parts from the sandblaster
My frame is ready at the powdercoaters. Monday is the big day, then reassembly..........YEA
Update on my restoration...
The frame is all assembled, Front and rear suspension all completed, but I stripped out the right front wheel cylinder brake hose. Now I have to take the brake apart again, oh well just a small set back..I will post a pic soon
Ken D
MY frame as promised, still waiting for the engine
Ken Dennison
I forgot to post the pic, sorry
The engine is about ready to put back in. Just need to paint the pan.
I'm sending the manifolds off to get porcelion coated and I just sent the water pumps to get rebuilt.
I'll post pics when I get the engine in.......
Ken dennisonCLC#226801
I put the engine in and am waiting for my manifolds to get back from the porcelian co. and the chrome stuff for the engine .
The radiator goes in next and in about a month I'll try to start it .
Wish me luck
Ken D.

G'day Ken,
Now, that is one, or should I say, 2 beautiful pictures.
Not a bad engine either, but seriously, the showing of the Side Valve V 16 in this way really gives us people who rarely see one, a good idea of just how big they are.
Bruce. >:D
Looks great. That engine is huge!
