Has anyone had experience using DINOC Woodgraining material on their dash and window mouldings. Apparently the 1949 used this type of material or it was painted on. What are your thoughts on using this product?

Bill - if you don't have any luck with DiNoc application, check out a company in Idaho called Hydro-Dip . I recently responded to another member's post about woodgraining and told him the same thing . Google Hydro-Dip and take a look at the patterns of woodgrain that are available . If you like what you see ,call and ask for Scott . He recently completed the dash and window surrounds on my 37 convertible . Very helpful and professional . The 3M DiNoc being sold today is not the same product used in 48-49 Cad interiors. The current DiNoc is a non-transparent vinyl film that comes in rolls. The most common automotine application is to cover items with a film that looks like carbon fiber. Google DiNoc and you'll find a web site with samples. I think they charged $1 to send me a couple of samples. I thought they looked a little too plastic. There is a nice video on line showing an installation. Another issue is high cost. Local shops had lots of carbon fiber. Anything else, and they had to order an entire roll. I'm still searching for the best way to go on my 48 sedanette. FYI - The 48 Cad sedanette is not simulated wood. It is a leather pattern. I contacted Hydro-dip. They do not have a leather pattern. I was the second request for a leather pattern in the last couple of weeks. They promised to search for one. Soooo still looking. I also would like to hear from someone who has used the current DiNoc. Dan48

Having the finest oem 49 woodgrain dash on the planet, I've assisted several others in their attempt to replicate theirs to my pattern. A fellow 49er in NY, had a woodgrainer in florida <jcrentz@comcast.net>, do his after I sent him pictures of my dash.
I have to agree with Paul on this one Hydro-Dip is the way to go, the look of the finished piece and the durability are great. I had my 41 60S done over two and a half years ago, it looks exactly the same now as the day I put it in

Jeff if I remember correctly it was under 600.00 , back then 1.00 per square inch, widest point both directions. Might not be the cheapest way, but less than quotes I had for handpainting even with R & Ring the dash myself . Also took less than 3 weeks. The best thing is was the film is applied it is then sprayed with a automotive clear coat, to maintain it, you use car wax .
