Title: 59/60 Conv Header Bow
Post by: jeremy9146 on November 02, 2011, 08:57:20 PM
Hey everybody.  I was curious if anybody had experience with repairing or fabricating sections of a header bow for 59 or 60 convertibles.  I currently have two top frames that are in really nice shape except for the header bow's leading edge.  I can't believe that no one is offering a repop of this common failure item thats used on all GM conv from those years.  I'm curious if anyone has had luck with taking say a repop 57 Chevy header bow and cutting it up to get pieces to repair the leading edge of the bow.  I'm not sure it is even close to resembling that of the 59/60.  Well if anybody has any ideas or suggestions I would really appreciate them.  I'm not afraid to get creative.  Thanks Jeremy

I think you would be better off getting a replacement header bow from a '59 or '60 Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile or Buick Convertible, as these would be the same part.

Bruce, I can't seem to find a clean used replacement.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Cadillac King and Cadillacs Only, both in So. Cal., have clean, mostly rust free replacement 'old stock' bows. I found a very nice one for my 62 Eldorado Biarritz whose bow had been warped, about a year ago.
