Title: 1970 Eldo Compressor or compressor rebuilt kit.
Post by: Doradokid on April 06, 2012, 01:01:31 PM
I need to replace or rebuild the compressor on a 70 Eldo.  Does anyone make the repair kits anymore or does anyone have a working replacement compressor for sale or or a decent non-working one I can use for parts?

Not to hijack the thread, but are any of these compressors rebuildable or fixable?

The vacuum operated ones were rebuildable and at one time there were
kits available to do that.  I haven't seen these for a long time, but you might
try E-Bay.

A Club member recently had one rebuilt, tested and for sale here (Bob
Hoffmann) so you might try contacting him.  Not sure for which year(s) his
fit.

I was lucky, found an NOS one for my '73 Eldo about 15 years ago but it
wasn't cheap.

We're talking about ALC compressors, not AC compressors, right?

I thought we were talking ALC vacuum compressors as most people
would not attempt to rebuild an AC compressor from a kit.

Is that correct Dorado Kid?

I have an ALC compressor off a 68 Eldorado with all the parts intact including the diaphram.  It has been cosmetically restored with some light pitting on the tank. Not sure as to it's working condition but should be a great core for parts etc. at least  Email me @ robtroxel@att.net if interested
