Any you guys out there know how many 1960 cadillac eldorado seville,s are still around ? I read there were 1075 made then some guy wrote to me there are two hundred left world wide .what do you think ? any proof of that? thanx linchero
Hello
Inquisitive question.
Without an accurate model registry virtually impossible to approximate. There are 45 listed in our 2012 CLC Directory.
You possess the Standard of the World.
thanks cr ,
I'm sure many of them are in Europe
If I had to guess, I'd put it around 300-350.
The number of 1960 Sevilles produced in my books was 1057 (not 1075).
Therefore, for the number left I agree with Eric's "guesstimate" is likely
in the 300 range. Using the numbers for those registered in our Club
can be rather deceptive. For example, there are many large clubs in Europe
with members who have very nice selections of our cars. The Cadillac Club Germany alone has about 500 members! Equally large clubs exist in Finland,
Belgium, etc. even Australia.
So, to answer your question -- there is no definitive way to give you
an exact number as to the famous question "how many are left" as there
is no accurate way to compile that data.

thanks mike , sounds good to me.
At least one more, in Switzerland, but in a helluva mess:

This looks like the one I remember in Durham, NC many years ago. It was owned by George Wrenn and was a very nice , original car !
Hello
"Left" is an interesting discussion topic.
Eric's guesstimate of approximately 31% is debatable over a good steak. He may have a good argument with our comrads in Europe and Australia selecting premium collector cars. The 1960 Cadillac Seville was an exclusive automobile for the affluent in that time period. Owners probably maintained them properly.
I rode in a Texas members car (Joe) in Galveston in January....smooth as silk. Also a buddy (Tom) has a beautiful one in Michigan.
If there are 69% that are not members of our club let's enthusiastically encourage them to join our club.
The estimate I gave was based on an unofficial tally of extant '59 Eldorado Biarritz. While I do not recall the source, the figure given was ~400 or approximately 1/3 production. Being the Seville fell into the same price level as the Biarritz (59 & 60) I would imagine a similar rate would apply calculating to around 300 or so.
New 1960 Cadillac owners probably kept their cars around a bit longer than new '59 owners. (Just a hypothesis). This may have worked in the 1960 models' favor - so perhaps up to 35% or around 350. I doubt 40%, but it is certainly possible.

Considering that many new Cadillac buyers back then traded their cars for new ones every two years I am sure that a lot of these were traded or sold by 63/64.
Probably sold as clean used cars and kept for a while.
It's when these cars see the 3rd 4th and 5th owners and start getting serviced at Pep Boys and the corner gas station that they go down hill in a hurry.
Factor in that they were not worth much at all by the late 60's or early 70's and cars in the rust belt were rusty by then, it cuts the number of survivors down a lot.
Now think about how many decent Eldo coupes were cut up and cannibalized to restore convertibles and that eliminates more potential examples remaining.
Whatever the exact number is, you own a very rare car.
