Title: 41 - 53 clutch parts
Post by: ccp49 on July 31, 2012, 11:22:05 PM
Hello, All.
I still need a few clutch parts to round out my conversion from Hydramatic to manual.  Aside from a new cltuch fork, the parts I need are among the linkage parts between the clutch pedal and the fork.  Except for the bracket that bolts to the engine block on a '49, they are common parts from 1941 through 1953.  Since I am still missing some parts, the picture I have in mind of how the whole clutch linkage system goes together is incomplete and probably innacurate.
1.  adjusting nut for the clutch fork relay rod.
2. stud/support for the relay lever.  Relay lever is the "bellcrank" anchored on both ends by studs that allow some degree of freedom in rotation.  One arm of the lever connects to the link coming from the clutch pedal and the link going to the clutch fork.
3. Both mount brackets for the relay lever.  One bracket - the one that bolts to the driver's side rear corner of the engine block - is unique to 1949 cars.  One is called "Clutch Relay Lever Support Bracket", part # 145 4142.
4.  Clutch fork. Mine has a broken spring clip at the wide end of the fork. Not sure if the forks are common between overhead and flathead engine model years. I can give pics and dimensions of mine to see if the one you have is the same.

If you think you have some parts I could use, let's chat.  Dan, 319-491-7598.

Thank you!

Dan,
I saw some of this stuff on e-bay yesterday.  Also, you might want to give John Faust a call...Honest John's Cadillac Corner.  I'm pretty sure he has some of those parts.  He's just north of Dallas.
