Title: My 1958 Coupe Deville soon to be restored
Post by: FTCHOME on January 06, 2013, 02:12:43 AM
Hello everyone, This is my first post as I'm the new owner of my fathers 58 due to his death from cancer a few months ago. He bought this in 1976 when I was 2 years old and it has been in storage 95% of that time. Right now I just want to get her back on the road with a full restore in the future to an all original with new parts. I've looked around on this forum and looks like a great resource. Thank you in advance for any answers to my future questions. Frank

When I got my car someone had done away with the original system and jerry rigged a later model power brake booster and master cylinder onto the firewall so I installed a steel plate and used a dual master cylinder and booster from a 1966 Cadillac and it works beautifully!!

All that was gone when I got the car so I just made the steel plate to cover that entire area as I will be putting Vintage Air on my car and wont need that vent!! I will try and get a pic or two for you!!

Looks like your DAd picked a nice car to keep!I think that is the best color on a 1958 Cadillac. I would leave it all stock, all the brake parts can be rebuilt to work perfect. There is nothing you can't get or fix. Stock restored cars are worth more and everything fits. It is nice to hear you are going to keep it, so many times when someone passes the family just sells the car. I Look forword to seeing the progress,I think you will find a lot of help from members of this club. Ken Perry

Thank You Ken, I have found lots of stuff for it already online. I was amazed to be able to find a company that has all the interior fabrics. Wife and I do well for ourselves and we are building her dads 59 F100 stepbox also. The Caddy is going to stay all stock but I may get some shockwaves/bags for it to lower it a bit but that will not affect anything as the stock coil spring could be replaced anytime. Yes, I do love this color but the black ones are very sharp too.

I do have a spare 58 Cadillac 4 door sedan for parts and it does have air conditioning, If I were to put the air in mine do you think that would hurt or help the value? Thanks Again Frank
