1940 Lasalle 2 door sedan model 5011.
There were 336 of this specific model made selling for $1250 and weighing 3760 pounds.
123 inch wheelbase and powered by a 322 cubic inch V-8 engine capable of producing 130 Horse Power
With a LaSALLE production of 10,382 cars in 1940 only 336 were 5011 models. 50 is the series and 11 is the 2 door sedan. 1940 was the last year of LaSALLE production.
The 4 door sedan 5019 was far more popular.
Of the 336 produced only 3 are currently registered as currently belonging to members of the Cadillac LaSALLE Club.
My personal guess is that one of four owners of prewar Cadillacs belong to the club so by my estimation that there are about 12 1940 Lasalle model 5011,s in existence.
By contrast the 5019 model is represented in the club by 39 members.
LaSALLE was called the junior Cadillac. Parts are the same for example. Cadillacs had become so expensive so the LaSALLE was produced a little smaller and a little lighter and costing less than the Cadillac . Production was from tha 1927 models to the 1940 models which was the last year for LaSALLE.
I would suggest that you buy a authenticity manual for your car and join the club.
Hello Hans
Wonderful to read that you are curious about your 5011.
Gary has done a fine job of providing you with some statistics.
We are fortunate to have a text devoted to our mark. Ron Van Gelderen and Matt Larson sacrificed their time and talent to create LaSalle: Cadillac's Companion Car. The book covers the history and data that would otherwise be unavailable and lost to the aficionado. You can go the homepage to purchase. It is a must read. Please also consider becoming a contributor and visitor to our museum.
We are indebted to these members.
Thank you so much for your help Gary!! I apparently didn't know anything about my car. Do you have any idea where to find an authentic Manual for it? I have been looking for the manual on Faxon Auto Literature but no luck there.
/Thanks Hans Ackermann
I have tried to send more information but I could not get it to work. Please e-mail me at garygriffin@Q.com
You can find the authenticity manual on this website.
