Title: 1977 1978 Eldorado Hub Cap inserts / circles nos
Post by: joecaristo on March 07, 2013, 11:23:17 AM
Hi,
Does anybody have a set of nos stick on hub cap circles for an 77 Eldorado for sale? White would be perfered but any color will do as I'm going to paint them to keep the color bright. I had a set of white ones but they faded to yellow. Thanks. Joe

Hi Joe, went to a vinyl sign store and purchased some of their sticky vinyl that they use to make letters for signs on vehicles. It works great and I am sure they would have white or black or any color that you need. It's easy to apply, won't come off and you don't have to paint it! I used it on my 76 Eldo and no one knows the difference. Me and my BIG mouth!

I have done the same thing and got decent results.  It was the first set the guy ever tried.  The caps need to be perfect as the vinyl will telegraph any imperfection.  If you get some NOS caps, or at least mint used ones, I would specify a heavy, glossy vinyl.  The stuff is used a lot for outdoor signs so on a pampered garage kept car the will last forever.

Hi Joe,sorry I don't have pictures at this time, the cars are in storage for the winter. I can assure you that if you have a decent set of caps and you apply the vinyl like they instruct you, you will be pleased with the results. They may also tell you to apply soapy water to the caps before applying the vinyl to help smooth out any air bubbles that might get trapped beneath the vinyl and the cap.  Good luck!, Dan
