Title: Cadillac LaSalle California members and a 1949 Cadillac 6107 investigation.
Post by: Bill Bickle 15098 on March 21, 2013, 09:20:42 AM
HI Folks;
I am attempting to trace ownership of a 1949 Cadillac 6107 through to November 1949 when it was delivered to a Los Angeles dealership. It appears to have spent a lot of its life in California until the mid 90s. I have names like Jack Croul with no known address other than California who appears to have owned it in the mid 90s and Larry Green from Santa Barbara but apparently he may have left the area since a phone number that I obtained was a dead end. He appears to have The Redwood Lease Company of Woodside CA. also comes into the mix as well. This goes back to 1984 apparently.  Would anyone recognize these names as having an interest in old Cadillacs or an ownership of a Cadillac of this vintage?  Is there any government agency in California that might have information on previous ownerships of vehicles? Any other avenues of investigation that might render results would also be most welcome.
The vehicle was originally Kingswood and Tyrolian grey; then black; now blue.
Obviously any help would be immensely appreciated. This is the car as it sits today.

Bill,

If this is the car you bought from Art Gardner, I can tell you a little of its history.  Art bought it from Ken Zitzmann, a CLC member in Arizona.  I attended the Grand National in the Los Angeles area in 2005 or so and Ken was there with the car.  I think at the time he was living in Utah.  Anyway, if you get in touch with Ken he may be able to provide you with further information.

FYI: Years ago I traced my own car's history back through Illinois and Wyoming to Colorado from the build sheet, by telephoning & writing various state motor vehicle bureaus and writing individual owners identified.  Most of these were helpful, but there were some dead ends as records were thrown out after so many years.

I viewed this 49 at the 06 GN in s.calif on the show field, along with meeting the father and son whom drove it from AZ.
