Title: 1956 ceramic resistor
Post by: Saturnin15 on April 01, 2013, 09:23:31 PM
Anybody knows where i can find a replacement resistor that is on the defrost control?  The ceramic on mine is all dried out.

Thanks for your help.

Eric,

If the resistor wire is intact and only the ceramic layer is the issue you could still use as is. The outside layer is for insulation and heat dissipation so as long as the resistor is not touching any metal it should be fine.

I had some good results using regular plaster to re-layer/cover these elements; there is also heat resistance plaster that could do the trick. As always time will tell if the patch does work or not.

Hope this helps..!

Thank you M. Gomez.  It will be very helpful.  Yes, the wire is ok, only the insulation is damage. I will try it this way.
