Title: Too Nice to hide!!
Post by: Jeff Wilk on June 08, 2013, 10:40:55 PM
Our 59 Fleetwood project continues to come along nicely with more great work from my son. The only problem this time is that the headlight buckets right down to the springs the rivets the headlight adjusters and the rims all cleaned up so well we hate to bury them inside the fender and put them back where nobody will see them!! ;D

That is one of the problems with restorations.   All that work, and nobody but you know it is there.

Bruce. >:D

Very nice! So true that so many of these mini projects end up getting buried away and hidden but the details do matter in the end. :-)

Some things we do are just for our own knowledge that they are done right. I was thinking of that when I serviced and painted my under seat heaters and tail light buckets.

There are also restorations that are visible to the naked eye, but not fully appreciated by the viewing public.  I once had a 54.  I took off the front and back bumpers and exhaust boots to be re-chromed.  Since it was going to take a little time, I decided to take off the grille and give it a detailed cleaning.  While I had it off, I decided to replace every nut, bolt and washer.  When the hood was opened, only I knew, even though some of the bolt heads were visible, what a tedious job it was.  Hard work is its own reward.
