Title: where to find old/reproduction/reconditioned wheels?
Post by: tajohnmd on August 29, 2013, 09:00:52 PM
I just bought a 1992 Fleetwood Sixty Special (FWD). The wire wheel discs are beat to hell. I was looking to replace them with the 6 spoke aluminum wheels that were available for 1991-92 Fleetwoods. I've been searching the web like crazy trying to find these whees, new, used, reconditioned, any condition, without any luck. Anybody have any ideas where to look or buy? Thanks, Tommy

There are virtual junk yards now, just Google used car parts and you will find them. This will get you into a network of hundreds of auto salvagers and when you make a request they all get notices of what you need.  The old junk yards of my youth where you could take off your own parts to save money are almost all gone. Environmental pressure has been working on getting them all up to modern environmental standards.  The modern ones have a catchment basin to take the car apart catching all miscreant fluids. They then dismantle the car and check out the parts and catalog them (I think with universal numbers and bar codes) and sell them locally and all over the world.  I have had rare parts from England and several states shipped to my house through the years and the parts have always been as advertised. It costs more but almost anything you want is out there and they will help you find it. The parts come to you clean and ready to use. Remember cleaning up you car and garage after salvaging a few parts for your ride? The old oil soaked sites are disappearing and will soon be gone, so take a few pictures of your favorite junk yards to show your kids and grand kids how it was way back then.

I see them on ebay occasionally, also google a company called CCI/Transwheel. They may have reconditioned ones. They recently refinished the 40 slot diamond wheels for my deVille and the quality is outstanding.

Tommy, a company I deal with has them on their website,it is called Keystone, I believe they are part of the LKQ network, they might only be a Canadian company, they list a lot of new and reconditioned wheels on the web site, not sure if you can get into the site,i need a password myself. You might be able to find a local dealer to get the wheels, the list price on them is 230.00 each, not cheap but should be good quality,i have used their wheels before, they sell a lot of aftermarket body panels, another company is Cross Canada Parts,i believe they recedntly bought out them too. try www.orderkeystone.ca  Good Luck Harvey Bowness
