Title: 1959 Series 62 restoration project
Post by: BillR. CLC # 29203 on September 08, 2013, 12:13:27 PM
I've cleaned up and have the first coat of black on this piece and the two others.
Does anybody have an up close and personal picture of one completed and installed for me to use as a target?
This piece seems to be taking the paint better than the pieces on either side.
On the filler cover the paint seemed to just lay down all nice and neat. On the other two it seems to puddle. I need to work on my technique.
Thanks.
BillR.

What I did on mine is strip the old paint out of the groves using stripper and #0000 steel wool which also polished the ribs. Wiped off the piece with acetone and painted it with semi gloss paint. Before it dried I took a real non nappy cloth like a new shop rag and dipped it with my finger into acetone and wiped off the ribs. Turned out excellent.

Randy,
Sorry, but I did not see your reply until now.
I got them done. They look pretty good.
Used your suggestions and had not read them.
Thanks.
