Title: 1940 V-16 engine running
Post by: KD on October 26, 2013, 02:41:26 PM
I finally got it running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still have a ways to go. I have the hood, trunk and spare tire covers at the painters.
I still need to do my wheels & tires and the upholstery. I hope this link works.

Well that link didn't work. I'm having a real tough time trying to post  the engine running for the first time.
I have it on my phone and can text it.  , but I can't post it any suggestions on how to do it?

G'day Glen,

That is a pre 1938 V16.   The 1940 V16 is of Side Valve construction.

Joe
Matt Gardner posted it on youtube for me . I do not have a youtube account.
I found it by going on google by entering 1940 Cadillac V-16 engine running for the first time, then the youtube link comes up.
At that time it had a leak on the exhaust manifold and sounded loud because I had the doors closed. I've since fixed it.
Al Capone had one just like this one

Glen,
That's not mine. See my last post and see if you can pull it up.
I have a ways to go to complete it but I'm going to take it out for a test run in about a week or two and I'll post some more pics then.

I'd really love to see it. On the youtube link, at the end, is a number.. looks like this:

Can you paste that number here?

Well I fixed a fuel pump connection ( the new fitting wouldn't tighten and one fuel pump would not suck up the gas to the carb)
and I DROVE it around the block. It sounds great and starts easily and I can't wait to drive it again. I still need to do the remaining work stated in my last post.
