I recently acquired a '59 Series 62 Sedan which has been quietly "resting" in a garage for 15 years in a partially dismantled state.
She's a rock solid car and we decided to try to start her. After doing the usual tests to ensure she wasn't seized, had spark etc we gave it a go with Easy Start and fuel from a clean source and she pretty much fired on the first spin which was amazing !
We had problems getting fuel into the carb so were messing around trying to start her when the starter packed up - 15 years of slumber was just too much and it fried itself which is a real shame.
I took it to my regular starter/alternator rebuilder and looking inside he couldn't believe it turned over at all. He said it was beyond repair and I should try to locate a replacement or find a serviceable donor so we could make one from two.
Can anyone help - please bear in mind that it'll need to be sent to the UK.
Many thanks,
Russ
