Title: NYTimes: ATS coupe video
Post by: James Landi on November 16, 2014, 12:08:14 PM
Dear Friends,

Here's the link to today's NYTimes video review of Cadillac's ATS coupe.   (as usual, there are several references to our preferences for luxury cruisers... but this review certainly burnishes the marque!)  Happy day,  James

Thanks for the link! Although the ATS Coupe is an attractive car and well-built and packed with the latest features and it certainly fills a niche Cadillac should occupy, my personal feeling is that there should be a bolder design. I'm especially glad there is a Morello Red Leather interior offered. I've been loaned a few ATS's when my '13 Cadillac CTS Coupe is serviced and it rides very nicely (even with the "run flat" tires!)

The latest CTS design iterations are, in my view, unusually attractive, and I think may be one of those "break through" aesthetics that will distinguish them over time.  I agree with your assessment regarding the exterior design of the ATS. It may be that Cadillac was addressing another "market segment" with a smaller, less bold look.  Of course when the LED running lights are on, the luxury segment cars, whichever brand you see, attract attention.  I was really pleased to see Cadillac originate the LED light display many years ago on the line-up.  Certainly, could not miss the brake lights coming on instantly, a staccato flash, and then a kind of high frequency pulse to them...   (how do they do that?  Are they using some kind of inverter?)
