It's not a metal strip. It's a folded strip of vinyl. The vinyl folds over the top edge of metal on the lower dash and the upper dash suits down on top of this. The screws go through the loser dash into the upper dash. My original strip from my 57 Biarritz was fine grain yet the dash is course grain. Same color though.

Cadman - I agree with Quentin regarding  the strip and grain . Attached are photos of my as yet unrestored original 57 Eldo showing the dash having the much heavier "buffalo hide" grain when compared to the smoother strip . Also attached are photos of my restored 57 Eldo with a Just Dashes repro . They sent me the strip with a heavy grain like the dash . I offer this information for 57 ELDO'S ONLY. Other models may be different. Good luck . ... Paul Tesone CLC #6876
