I'm down to the last 3 Cadillacs I am ever going to have. For grins, I thought it would be fun to put a Heritage of ownership badge on each in the order of which they were purchased by me-- even though I've owned way more than these three through the years.
When did Cadillac start the Heritage of Ownership badges? The three I have are all the old brass (?) ones with the Roman Numeral in the center (I, II, III) Are they brass?
IIRC - I believe they began issuing them around 1990 or so.
They're not brass. Some sort of gold tone plating over metal.
I saw somewhere that GM started issuing these in 1989, but I though that couldn't be right. I guess so. Thanks.
While we are on the subject what is the highest number anyone has ever seen on a heritage badge?
I have an "XI" (11) on my car that I pulled in the junk yard.
On ebay I once saw an XX (20).
Has anyone ever seen a '3 letter Roman numeral'? Looking at the badge I dont think they could put 3 letters in the space. If so, then anything over 20 would not be possible. . . .
However an "L" (50) would be very impressive. 8)
XIII (13) is the highest I ever recall.
There were a few "L"s. I saw one for sale at Hershey one year.
I have a XX on my 2002 DTS
How about thirty nine? When I got Gay her 1995 SDV when I was selling Cadillacs, I had to order it, but it showed up. Ansel Sackett told me later that if I'd included the 1940 Fleetwood 60S that had been made into a trailer of sorts by cutting the frame off at the firewall, the badge for the "Forty" was something special. Someone swiped that one from the car.
I have seen these badges that read, instead of a roman numeral, "Master Owner."
I think that was what Ansel said. Thanks for refreshing my memory.
The badges were issued in 1989--as I know my Mom got one in March of '89 after having ordered a new Biarritz--at that time, her number was "VI." A funeral director I know had "XXXVIII" on his '95 Fleetwood Brougham. The badges were changed around 2000 or so (smaller with chrome and black insert). I also was told that whether an owner received one was up to a dealer, and the dealer ultimately paid for each one issued.
The Round Brass Medallion Badges were made from 1989 through 2000.
42 total Badges were offered by Cadillac: Roman Numerals I to XXXX, as well as two more which were: Cadillac (no number) and Master Owner (which was for 41+ new purchased Cadillacs)
In 1999 the 50th Anniversary of Deville was made which a Black Paint Fill
Made of brass- Gold was Standard OR the Dealer Checked a Box on the order form for Pewter; never-the-less â€" the default is Gold
No Number of years of ownership selected = Script "Cadillac" Only.
2001 to 2014 (current) are the "Golf Head Style" to match the modern Cadillac Logo
It is my understanding that, with the newer style (chrome) grille badges, the owner of any number of Cadillacs in excess of 40 gets the designation "Master" on the badge.
Here is a rare #XXXX! This is the last number before the Master Owner Badge. I have seen many master owner badges for sale but when I found this one I could not pass it up!
Someone said they saw a few "L"s... ???
Shouldn't it be "XL", rather than "XXXX"?
Where's a Roman when you need him?
