Title: 1957 / 1958 fuel pump
Post by: gary griffin on December 12, 2015, 10:09:50 AM

Started he 1957 60 - S  and fuel came out everywhere. Previous owner was  a big fan of fixing with Permatex apparently. I am looking for a good fuel pump hopefully reconditioned by a reputable firm or a rebuild kit. I would also consider a slightly used one??

Time is of the essence as my upholsterer has a window in his schedule and can do my job soon. If I miss it I will be waiting months to get it on the road.

Gary,

The '57 fuel pump is one year only, so if yours is original, rebuild it.  The 2 halves separate on a angle and that is how you can tell.

Attached is a link to a great place to get a kit, or have them rebuild it.  Modern material that can handle the crummy gas of today.

Put in a electric pump to get it going again and repair later the mechanical pump .The 57 i had in the past also had such pump and it worked very good .
