Looking for a 40 lasalle business coupe
Was there ever such an animal? The 1940 coupe had seats in the rear for 2/4 passengers and business coupes traditionally were just the front seat and a massive trunk. Don't think Cadillac ever classed their coupe as 'Business'.
I am helping an old-timer sell off some of his older cars. He refers to his 1940 Lasalle Cadillac Body Style 5027 as a "Business Coupe" so he probably has what you're interested in. I have included one picture of the car but I am going there tomorrow to put it back together; there are some parts stored inside of it which may make the car more complete. If you look at the car some things are obviously missing, but inside the car is a top part of the grill, and also the sideboards (is that what they are called?) and other parts. It will need to be restored for sure, so if you are able and willing to put the work into it, the car is available. I'll have more pictures of it by tomorrow afternoon for you.

Glad to read of your interest in purchasing a 1940 LaSalle. There were 24,130 automobiles produced that year. There were 13 models offered. However there was not a Business Coupe that year. The closest vehicle to a traditional business coupe that year was a 1940 LaSalle 5011.
Please accept three recommendations BEFORE you act:
(1) Do not acquire a project
(2) Join the Cadillac & LaSalle Club
(3) Read the book LaSalle: Cadillac's Companion Car by Ron Van Gelderen and Matt Larson.
The guy I am assisting in finding homes for his older cars also has a 1928 Packard which is a 526 Doctor's Coupe, but for whatever reason he also calls the Lasalle Cadillac 5027 one, as well. My intent is not to try and take advantage of anyone (like Jeff), but rather find a home for a car that is indeed a project car for someone. I have been clear and upfront with the level of attention that this car will require. I do hope that someone on this forum would be interested in taking this Lasalle Cadillac on as a restoration since the alternative would be for it to further degrade in condition. No bad intent was meant on my part. For my part, I am a 46 year-old guy who feels like a kid again as I get to go through the man's property to discover many car types I have never heard of before. As an objective person on the Lasalle given my lack of knowledge, the hood on this car is quite striking in appearance!

I think that some people refer to these cars as Business Coupes due to them having two doors. I am always surprised by moments of clarity that come to me...
Jeff should qualify what he wants by model number. Easy to look up.
Lingo - just like everyone refers to coupe de ville for all two doors.
Oddly enough, I think that I have found someone who wants to purchase the LaSalle Cadillac. I have to say that I hope he is able to return the car to its former glory. Good luck, Jeff, on your search. I am now a fan of the LaSalle, as well. I may read a good book on them now, too...
