The rod is 1/2" diameter with NF threads on both ends. I have made new ones for my 41 and 49 from cold rolled steel and they have worked fine.
Why do you think that rod is even necessary? Cadillac engineering must have seen the need, but I would think the leaf springs are sufficient to hold the rear axle in alignment.

Not with rubber shackle bushes Bob. Have you seen how the axle will pull to one side when you lift the car on a two post lift? and that's even with the bar in place. Cadillac should have used two radius arms really.
It is a pity that Cadillac didn't use a Watts Linkage.
