That's just a casting number. Where did you find the engine number 2310836
MY MISTAKE I CANT FIND THE ENG # . THE NUMBER ON FRAME MATCHED MY VIN NUMBER
SO DONT KNOW ENG NUMBER WHERE IS IT
THKS AGAIN
It will be around the same place but not actually on the bell housing but on the surface of the block that the bell housing bolts to, around the base of the distributor shaft. It will be very, very faint.
IVE GOT AN ENG # OF 2020973 . FOR MY 39 LASALLE SERIES 50
DOES THAT SOUND CORRECT
APPREC ANY HELP THX . BOBBYG
Recheck your number, The number has the correct number of digits but the first three numbers don't make sense.
Unless, maybe it is a service replacement but I think they used a totally different number system. If your motor number is like any I have seen it is very faint, hard to see and easy to mistake one number for another.
The first digit being a 2 indicates a LaSalle motor 1933 up except 40-52 started with a 4.
If your second digit is a 3 rather than a 0 you have 1940 engine.
1939 engine numbers are 2290001 to 2313028
1940 engine numbers are 2320001 up
40-52 4320001 up
The MPB does not show 202XXXX ever used.
1933 runs from 2000001 to 2003381
1934 runs from 2100001 to 2107218
Hope this helps.
Bobby G, there should be two numbers at the spot I suggested. See if you can find another very faint one. As Fred said, 202 first numbers do not compute.
