I think this part may be the same for the 1940 cars too. One picture shows my car missing the trim piece, the second is of a 1940 Cadillac with the trim piece. Thanks for any leads or help.

Parts book shows these are different numbers but it may just be the color of plastic. It doesn't matter much anyway because these will all be warped out of shape and/or cracked. If not the whole car it goes with will be in very nice condition.
I think Scott is referring to the thin chrome molding around the fake buttons. On a 1940 Cadillac and Lasalle that molding is part of the chrome plated casting below it surrounding the radio. The chrome surrounding the fake buttons and the chrome surrounding the radio are one casting. The radio delete plate/casting is a separate part.
Does anyone with a '39 know if that is the same setup?
Yes, looking for the chrome trim piece. I'm pretty sure it is separate on the '39s as I've seen the large radio blank out trim for sale and it does not have it plus it does not look broken off the plate on my car. I'm told the fake buttons are also a bit incorrect but not sure if I can remedy that situation. An actual radio and correct radio trim piece would be nice but I'm told they are a bit like hens teeth.
BTW - this is a new purchase for me so I'm just finding a few odds and ends for the car. I'll post a picture in the Restoration Corner
