Title: Installing Fram Oil Filter on '39 LaSalle Engine
Post by: Bruce Berghoff -#1476 on December 04, 2018, 11:19:06 AM
I'm looking for assistance  (factory literature ? )  regarding the correct installation and oil line routing of a Fram Canister style Oil Filter System onto a 1939 LaSalle engine. Any information you have would be appreciated . Bruce Berghoff  (231)889-3343

There are instructions given on page 23 of the June 1938 "Serviceman".  If you don't have a copy of this I can make a scan.  The instructions give quite a bit of leeway in how you do it.

It would be nice if you could post it on this forum so it would be here for the rest of us and historical research.

I see, that is a bypass filter, not a full oil flow filter as used in
engines today.  Some restricted oil goes to the filter and then is
dumped back into the engine.  If a lot of oil flowed, oil pressure
would be lost.

What year went to full flow?  Bruce Roe
