I recently picked up a 57 Sedan Deville that is in need of an engine. I know some have swapped in later model engines but I would prefer to keep this car period correct and not deal with the headaches of fitting in one of the larger inch engines. I know the 365s are hard to come by. Will also consider a 390 if I can find one.
Hi,
Where are you ? Engines are hard to ship, so it could be an important detail.
The '56 transmission in totally different, the engine has a couple small differences, but workable. A 1958 Cadillac 365 engine and transmission is much more similar, so you should include it in your search. You will need to use a 1957 water pump and pulley's no matter which engine you use as well
Michael
I have a 57 engine and transmission. The motor turns freely. I took it out of a Coupe de Ville, but I never had the motor running. No water pump, distributor, starter, carb, exhaust manifolds. As Mike said shipping would be difficult. I am in Buffalo NY. Thanx Frank
Hi Frank and Michael, thanks for the replies. I'm located in Farmingdale, NJ so getting an engine from Buffalo is definitely doable for me.
I have a 365 engine here

Adrian,
If you are interested in the motor and trans. I could dig it out of the garage in the next couple of days and send some pictures. You can email me direct at fpuma49@verizon.net or call at 716 874 3223. I.m asking $500 for both. Thanx Frank
