Title: B/J Auction tonight 6-27-19
Post by: STS05lg on June 27, 2019, 10:01:25 PM
1993 White Diamond Allante w/23k miles sold for $8,000
1970 Cotillion White Deville conv w/red leather sold for $25,000
IMHO a lot of sellers are loosing their shirt tonight and there are a lot of used car lot
Mercedes going across the block tonight. This Conn BJ auction is not as good as a lot of Mecum sales.

I'm happy to see the '70 went for $25k.  I have it on DVR so I can FF through the used car lot cars!

Remember the starting day(s) of the auction are generally the lower echelon cars (except for the '70 of course).

;)

1960 Series 62 Sedan 6W in Persian Sand sold for $34,100 (incl buyer's fee).
Claimed to be all original with 28,000 miles (marked exempt on the title).
Probably near record money for one of these.

Seller purchased the car in 1996 from the family of the original owner.
Unlikely he lost any money!  ;D

I saw it go across, did not realize is was a low mileage car, was very surprised at the selling price.

Most of all the other cars are......yawn.....

I used to think that way but not any more. I have 8 coupes 2 four doors. They all drive the same.

Just look at the panel alignment, door seams and the stance of the car it says magnificent.

Not really too much for an all original car if it is so, you will enjoy it just as much.  Also if this was a coupe it would cost $40-45K so for $34K and a 1960 it's a fair deal.

a '60 SDV is not a '58 EB.  the EB is in a whole different league.

chris.

I'd think hard on a '60 SDV, even if it isn't a '59. I miss my '59 really bad at times. It's the 'cool' factor that comes into play with a '59.

EB over SDV? That's like comparing an All Star game to the World Series.

The prior statement was "For me, too many doors for that much money." - without qualification nor exception.

The hazards of making blanket statements is the point - and that point has been made.

Time to move on. Thanks. :)

As a point of reference for all our 53 Eldorado owners a beautifully restored 53 Skylark sold for $70,000 this afternoon. Posted for informational purposes only.  :)  :)
No nice Cadallacs went across the block today. Gee I guess those Northerners only like MBs and Jeeps  ;D  ;D

A 53 skylark is like a tin can compared to a 53 Eldorado , so really no comparison there .

Chris    I agree.
Is that car with the suicide doors a Cadillac?
I prefer two doors. But try getting out of the backseat of a 66 Deville convertible. :-X

Try getting out of the back seat of even a '76 convertible. It's easier to simply stand up and step out.

I wish all of you two door guys would try getting out of the back seat of Lars Kneller's V-12 Bentley coupe sometime. We stuck Gay back there on the way to lunch one time and Lars had to pick her up bodily at an intermediate stop to get her out of the thing. Being the gallant fellow that I am, when we left there to go to the restaurant, I crawled into the back.

I really don't know how I got out of the darned thing, but it was nearly impossible and took both of them tugging on me. I do remember that Gay rode back to their home in Juanda's (four door) Lincoln, NOT the import. (It does go like spit, though!)

The coupes might look sexier but what brings in the cash are the ones that most passengers can get in and out of easily. (The middle seats are still uncomfortable no matter what.)

So true, Barry. Everything I have ever owned except the Eldorado's have been four door cars. I like four doors. Besides, with the two doors the doors are too heavy and you need half a football field to open them.
