Need a spare tire wheel well that doesn’t look like Swiss cheese for my 57 convertible . I think I will be able to use one cut out of a hardtop series . The bottom of mine is full of holes and needs replacement . Thanks , Paul Tesone CLC #6876
I have one from a 1955 I think, can’t imagine it being much different.
A bunch exist in the after market, not specifically for '57 Cad, but check the dimensions. No one is, as yet, making '57-58 repair panels, beyond floor(C2C), that I can find.
They main issue is the bigger cars used wider tires than other period cars. If closest replacement not as wide, slice in half, and add a spacer strip. This requires sheet metal welding/bodywork. The originals are spot welded in. I have a factory weld body manual circa '58.
In a pinch, use yours as a mold and make a fiberglass repair piece or make your own/ rework in metal since they are all prone to rust. Better to not have bottom vent holes.
Thanks W & J - someone had a 56 parts car . We measured the well only to find the size to be too small . Perhaps the 55 is the same size as the 56 . The dimensions of my well are 29 “ long , 10 1/2 “ wide ( inside measurements ) and 8 1/2 “ deep . The right front and left rear of the well are angled toward the center while the other two corners are rounded . P Tesone CLC #6876

Hi,
I've been through this before, the '57 is different. I believe I have a good one if you still need it
