I am in the process of getting a new mechanic and somewhere on the forum I read that if the car is lifted with a frame lift, blocks need to be put somewhere?? because of the weight? Was I imagining this? I prefer wheel lifts because every time it gets lifted, the bumpers in front seem to shift a bit, not sure what that torquing is all about. I am sure in its day frame lifts were all that were used but metal does age and fatigue so I dont want my car to start morphing on me. Can anyone confirm this please

since most of the weight is in the front lift points are important. There should be some info in the shop manual. One point should be just behind the front wheels. Then just in front of the rear wheels, but check the manual to confirm
I have a four post lift at my house.
I lift the 76 Eldo with the pads on the frame and space it on the lift so that the weight of the front end is supported as much as possible. It’s a full perimeter frame so as long as you have it evenly supported it will be fine.
The front bumper will sag when it’s in the air and the doors should not be opened.
When you lower the car the bumper will return to its normal position.
We always take this into consideration when fitting new front bumper fillers in the front. You have to adjust the front bumper and look at it again with all of the weight on the wheels.
