Here's a couple of Before photos of my LaSalle grille emblems, I have two sets.
The V-8 emblem on the right shows a high-lighted V because I spent several hours
tapping it back into shape whereby it had been sucked in and pooched out just behind the 8-32 studs that hold it on.
The V-8 is pretty thin brass and I did have some concern about sanding too deep
and creating a pin hole, but I used 320 paper and judgment and so far so good.
I now learn these emblems along with the hubcap and bumper face plate LaS
emblems were more than likely painted, not coated with an enameling process that
requires 1350-1500 heat.
I'll post more info on the enameling process as I learn it, which in this case appears I am not going to use. Plus of course I'll hopefully post After photos of both emblems. I believe the winged emblem was chromed before painting.
But if one were to use the enameling process on 'chrome' you would not lay down copper first, you've have the part nickel-chrome, not the usual three step
process we're used to. For my winged emblem I will chrome it, and then use a special primer that sticks to chrome before painting.
This is a fabulous chance to learn some new techniques I haven't experienced.

They were all chromed and painted. The bumper emblems look EXACTY like the hubcap emblems, but the tabs are located in a different pattern so be on the look out.
