Title: 1971 exhaust bolts
Post by: Roger Zimmermann on October 13, 2020, 04:12:55 AM
One of my French customers is searching 2 bolts which are holding the exhaust manifolds to the heads; according to the parts list, they are the same from 1968 to 1979: 3/8”-16 x 2 1/8 in length. Good used are OK.
Who has that?

Hello Roger,

ARP is a company located in California that has been making bolts for automotive applications for 50 years.  Their products are generally good quality, but pricey.

Someone may have used bolts.  Also, you may be able to find a fastener store in Switzerland that might have, or be able to get the correct size bolts.  I think there is a Fastenal store in Bex (Route Industrielle 9 Bex CHE 1880 P: 41 24 463 20 90).

My '67's 429 uses 7/16" bolts- one size up from the bolts used on the 472/500 engines.

Regards,

Christopher Winter

Hello Roger:

Here is where a friend purchased a set recently for a
1970.  They are now in the car and excellent quality:

Thanks for the tips and time to answer. Sometimes, I'm dumb: a Swiss friend of mine has 2 spare engines from this time. I asked him this morning for those 2 bolts; he will remove them and send them to me, at a fraction of the costs if shipped from the US.
