I need help. What tool or technique do I need to remove the window cranks and door handles from my 41 -60S?
Jim
Hi Jim
On my 40 La Salle it used a c clip and I used my 60's door handle removal tool.
Thanks wayne
Thank you.
It is amazing, I have come across a tool that I needed and didn't have.
Will either of these do the job?
Autozone

If it were me, I would buy the set from Harbor Freight.
in a pinch you can use a hack saw blade and catch the open end of the c-clip and pull it out of the handle. Just use caution as you wouldn't want to nick your door panel.
It looks like the tool from Auto Zone does not work, the opening is much to wide to push the clip out, will go to Harbor Freight this afternoon.
Jim
when you push the tool in,be careful the clip does not fly away, they are smaller then the later years GM products,They work the very same as a 60's gm car would, they take a delicate touch to pop out,but once you do one it is all easy.Big thing is to make sure the clip is in the way it is supposed to be,sometimes they are in backwards, will work either way?,you push down the eustachion plate and then insert the tool,it is between the plate and the handle, not between the plate and the door card?. Good Luck harveyb
Went to Harbor Freight, spent $100.00 on STUFF, got there removal tool also. It appears pone of the tools is a duplicate of the one from AutoZone.
Neither tool works. the opening is too wide and the inner opening is too small.
Can someone measure the opening of the tool they use to pull these handles. Once I have that dimension I can grind down one of these tools.
Thank you
Jim
Well I got the handles off, used three different methods for the three handles, a very small drill bit and a hammer worked for one of them, a tiny screw driver for the second and I can't remember what worked for the third one.
I am going to make up a tool for the other doors and will post a picture of it here when I get it made,
Jim
