I changed my wiper motor from the old trico vacuum unit to a modern two speed electric motor. I did not want to pay the $280,- plus shipping & tax to the Netherlands for the "Newport" set-up so I used a Vetus marine application which is in many ways adjustable. With some fabrication work this unit is a very good solution for many trico swaps!
I hope this is useful for some of you guys that run in the same issues.

Looking good, and if you really wanted to sort of camouflage it, you could strip the guts out of the original diecast case, and trim it so it simply covers the new unit as much as possible.
Did you convert the actuating control to operate the unit?

No, I just took the old switch/actuating out and put the new vetus switch in, took the plastic knob off and placed the original knob on the vetus switch

Real good alternative conversion you made, the motor looks very close to the one used in the Newport brand. ;)
At least you recess it to fit the cavity and the most important not to interfere with the air filter housing. One of the problem with the Newport one which does fits fine is the way the motor bracket is place, it tilts the motor down which blocks the air filter housing to seat flat on the carb.
I had to cut my bracket and re-fit it back to make it vertically (similar to what you have done in yours) to clear the air filter end.
Good reversed engineering..! 8)
