Somebody removed the AC compressor completely. The crossover battery cable is also routed from the right side battery across the engine. I've never seen an air intake which looks like something chewed the end off until now.
Nice looking exterior and it's got the Goodwrench version of the diesel.
It's also parked next to a thrift store sign... so was the car taken to cover a loan or pawned?

Nice little locomotive...
As an aside, if someone is going to Grand Island, NE to look at the car, the second half of March is the Sandhill Crane migration.
I had the extreme pleasure of experiencing it back in 2014.
A life experience. I hope to do it again, but very happy I was able to see it once.

Pictures for those who don't do FB.
I'm cheap, I know that, so for me this car might be considered part of a collection as a 2nd or 3rd. I would have my collection "flagship" car, maybe a nice 1966 CdV or even older Cadillac. I would have a 1975 SdV with low miles, and then this car, and I would want to get it at $3,000.
Just does not seem like a $6,000 FIRM car to me. Even though it runs and drives, has a desirable replacement Diesel engine and is in nice colors, there will be continuous maintenance on the car. A great 3rd car, get it sorted out by taking to the chapter events, then maybe take it as a curiosity to the GN.
Last time I looked, Diesel had topped $4.10 a gallon here in central Iowa. You can not extract enough savings from improved fuel mileage to offset that cost.
I agree the price is high.
The funny thing is those 5.7 Diesels were 'mechanic specials' when they were new!
I agree the price is too high. If it looked perfectly maintained under hood I may be of a different opinion. I have a feeling the thrift shop sign in the photo had an influence on the price.
When I first saw Grand Island I was thinking of the Grand Island between Buffalo and Niagara Falls until I saw NE after it.
Jim,
My friend with the diesel finally made it back up North from Florida. He did mention to me the same thing I was thinking about the compression tester... very nice and hope that something never happens which would tell me I need to use it" ... it would only be bad news. Thanks again!

Scott;
I agree with your friend, but as they say, it's better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it....
At least I think that what they said.

Exactly!
