Thanks in advance.I am trying to change the pinion seal in the diff on my 39,I have the nut and yoke off and I'm not sure wether the front of the diff comes out so I can get at the seal. I don't want to destroy it. Has anyone done this job before. I have a book on the car but it's not detailed enough.
I went through this on my LaSalle last fall. Despite my learning curve and some naysaying, I ended up getting the job done without any damage that I have seen so far. Here are a couple of threads I posted about it.

BTW, the differential is a sealed unit that can't be worked on and if things go sideways you'll have to find a replacement.
