Is the front seat ( both cushions and surrounding structure) for a 1940/41 62 series convertible coupe the same as for a 62 series coupe? I think the answer would be yes, but can someone confirm? Both would have a split backrest that folds forward in order to gain access to the rear seat, and the dimensions should be the same. Thank you.
I can't tell for sure, but think the answer is no.

listing is for coupe only, std and deluxe upholstery.
I don't have any body books between these two.
Just because the springs vary does not prove the frame isn't the same.
I could not find a listing,for it(Fisher special order?)

For a 40 Cadillac 6267 it certainly works to use a 40 LaSalle coupe seat. There are no observable differences in the core structure. Upholstery is different. I had a very rusty Cadillac seat to compare it to and used a 40 LaSalle coupe seat in the car. 40 and 41 are not the same from what I know. The 40 seats have much more wood structure. if convertible is typical to other models' seats are different and the mounting track is different. I have not done a 41 convertible so can't say for sure but in general 41 seats are quite different from 40.
Interesting. It's a '41 conv I'm working on. I figured since the body was the same as '40 the front seat assembly would be the same too. That's why I asked my question the way I did.
I need a front seat for a '39-40 B Body 2 door. All GM B bodies 2D will interchange.
If a '41+ would physically fit, this would be a game changer but I believe that those cars got a little wider?
The changes from 40 to 41 are one of those very interesting Cadillac design stories. Out comes a brand new body in 1940 and in 41 they make many changes in little things like door latches and big things like the frame that sits under the body. Must prove that the engineers were in charge at the time instead of the accounting department. One thing on the convertible body the top frame is almost identical between 40 and 41. Just one little small change.
